The 76th Software Engineering Group’s Extreme Digital Development Group Enterprise-OKC was invited by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s Armament Directorate to help support Digital Innovation demonstrations and vision during the 2021 Air Force Association Conference National Air, Space & Cyber Conference.

During the conference, EDDGE members on the Xanatos Gambit team interfaced with Air Force leadership, vendors and various strategic partners. The goal was to demonstrate how digital practices, coupled with open architectures, could be adopted into a framework supporting the AFLCMC/EB’s vision of “E-Create Before you Detonate.”

During the demonstration, a standard commercial piece of embedded hardware was connected to a generic web camera. Rapidly prototyped artificial intelligence software was running to identify in real-time multiple types of objects, including people. The live demonstration exemplified scaling within a digital ecosystem for rapid development and deployment across different hardware environments with a future Operational Flight Program system.

Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. CQ Brown Jr.’s directive to Airmen to “accelerate change or lose” highlights how “Empowered Airmen Can Solve Any Problem.” Working closely with AFLCMC/EB staff and personnel, the XG team helped communicate the vision of AFLCMC/EB Commander Brig. Gen. Heath Collins during the three-day conference related to digital innovation coupled with supporting acquisition strategies.

Demonstrations were made to many distinguished visitors including Gen. Arnold W. Bunch Jr., commander of Air Force Materiel Command, and Maj. Gen. Anthony W. Genatempo, commander of the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center.

At the conclusion of the event, Maj. Jorge Ramirez, deputy project manager and program executive officer representative for the AFLCMC/EB, awarded a challenge coin to EDDGE for excellent service, received by Jonathan Brumfield.

The EDDGE team continues to make waves throughout the Defense industry, driving change and providing outstanding service to their customers and stakeholders.
