Work Conditions

All employees are assigned to a project, usually on a team. We follow the Agile method at Software Engineering Group which includes bi-monthly sprint planning meetings and daily stand-up meetings.

Most positions start out attending in person with the possibility of working remotely depending on the Supervisor and project.

Many of the facilities on base are open for civilians. Working here lets you make a difference with like minded Air Force civilians, and offers many opportunities for advancement including different projects and training courses available.

This is a civilian job with no military commitment. While you don't have to deploy or wear a uniform, you still get the benefit of being a federal employee.

Applying

We offer internships as well as permanent positions.

Interviews typically consist of general questions about your background and experience as well as basic information about Software Directorate Group. You will be asked to demonstrate your thought process with a sample question. You will be given the opportunity to ask questions. Insightful questions will leave a lasting and positive impression.

Applicants who meet the qualifications for the job are typically contacted for an interview -- within a few weeks. Those who do not meet the qualifications are encouraged to apply again once they do meet the qualifications.

All employees including interns must be a citizen of the United States before their first day of work.

If you get hired as a permanent full time employee, the Air Force can pay about 80% of a post-graduate program. There is also an internship program that will pay for a Master's degree in a STEM field, called the "PAQ Program".
